Belkin G Plus MIMO Wireless Networking Line Delivers 1000 Feet of Range

Consumers searching for wider coverage can look to the first True MIMO™ products under $100

Belkin has announced its new Wireless G Plus MIMO line that gives users wider wireless Internet coverage. Powered by Airgo Networks’ True MIMO technology, Wireless G Plus MIMO is a smart radio technology that enhances the 802.11g wireless standard by providing increased speed, coverage, and reliability for wireless systems. This line will be available in August 2005 in North America.

According to Belkin, benefits of the new equipment include:

  • Up to 1000 ft. wireless range
  • 10x faster wireless speed than 802.11b
  • Improved resistance to interference from neighboring Wi-Fi® systems and other 2.4GHz devices
  • Improved performance with 802.11b and 802.11g devices whether employed at the client, AP, or both.
  • Does not drop to the lowest common networking speed in mixed-mode environments
  • Seamless compatibility with 802.11b and 802.11g Belkin utilizes True MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) from Airgo Networks in its G Plus MIMO products. True MIMO is the first technology to address the issues of coverage, speed, and interference in larger homes and offices.

D-LINK Launches SUPER G wireless gear with "smart antenna"

D-Link® today introduced a new standard-based 802.11g WiFi line of wireless products with what the company calls "revolutionary smart antenna wireless networking technology that delivers breakthrough performance." BVRP Software's LAN Wizard utility to be part of NETGEAR utility

BVRP Software, a leading provider of communications software, today announced that its LAN Wizard utility has been chosen by NETGEAR to be integrated into all of NETGEAR’s home and small business router product lines. According to BVRP, LAN Wizard simplifies router installation, greatly reducing their technical support needs during installation. Router Set-Up and Configuration is the first of several modules of LAN Wizard that NETGEAR is including with its new home and small business routers. The Router Set-Up and Configuration utility detects type, current network configuration and other pertinent information relating to a user’s Internet connection. Then during the set-up process, this previously gathered information is then used to configure the new router. The software explains, with the use of diagrams, images and non technical terms, how to connect the router physically to the PC and the network, which is extremely user friendly and easy to understand. NETGEAR announces gigabit PC Card

NETGEAR, Inc. has announced that it is launching the industry’s first Gigabit Cardbus adapter for notebook computers. Driven by a growing demand in the business and consumer sectors for faster data transfer capabilities, the NETGEAR GA511 gigabit PC Card provides speeds up to 10 times faster than Fast Ethernet and 100 times faster than 802.11b wireless. Linksys launches new switch

Linksys today introduced a new switch to their line called the 24-Port 10/100 + 2-Port Gigabit Switch + 1 Mini GBIC with WebView (SRW224). According to Linksys, the new WebView rack mountable switch is packed with robust features fit for businesses on budgets including 24 Autosensing 10/100 full duplex ports; 2 Autosensing 10/100/1000 ports and 1 Mini GBIC port for Gigabit Ethernet or Fiber Optic long range expansion. D-Link launches wireless presentation gateway

D-Link today announced the D-Link AirPlus G wireless presentation gateway (DPG-2000W) which enables the delivery of presentations via high-speed 802.11g wireless from desktop or notebook PCs to multimedia projectors, LCD panels, monitors or other VGA compatible devices. The gateway eliminates the cables between the projector and the PC, providing contiguous access for multiple presenters to deliver presentations in a group environment. D-Link announces firmware upgrade for Xtreme wireless gear

D-Link has announced a new firmware upgrade for Xtreme G, the company's wireless network gear using the  802.11g standard. The firmware upgrade provides consumers with new levels of standardization with all standard-based 802.11g and 11b networks. According to the company, the upgrade employs a "dynamic sensing mode" to embrace all wireless technologies from a compatibility standpoint while enhancing network performance of up to 45% in standard G mode and up to 144% in Super G mode. D-Link says this new free firmware upgrade gives Xtreme G products the added ability to sniff out nearby networks operating on the same channel, then automatically engage or disengage performance features to maximize network performance and interoperability. The free Xtreme G upgrade will be available as a downloadable upgrade from www.dlink.com later this month. 03/19/04

KaVoom Software launches new version

KaVoom Software has announced that version 3 of its KaVoom! software package has now been released. KaVoom! is a software package that provides the function of a hardware keyboard/video/monitor (KVM) switch except that the "switch" appears on your monitor, and you use the mouse to select which computer to operate. No hardware other than a working Ethernet network is required. The key new features in version 3 are: copy and paste data from one computer to another using the shared clipboard; copy files from one computer to another just as easily; dual displays are now supported. Belkin launches new gear to enhance wireless networks

Two new devices from Belkin allow household and office computer users to add more capabilities to their wireless networks. The 802.11g Wireless Print Server lets you share USB printers with networked computers. The 802.11g Wireless Ethernet Bridge allows you to connect your Ethernet-equipped computer or network device—such as a gaming console—with instant wireless networking capabilities.
