Netgear announces affordable "Smart Switch"

Netgear today announced the launch of the FS526T 24-Port Smart Switch with gigabit ports, a smart layer two switch featuring 24 10/100 Mbps ports and two 10/100/1000 Mbps copper Gigabit Ethernet ports. According to the company, the FS526T offers simple switch management through a Web-browser interface enabling users to monitor switch performance, configure ports, and even set up trunks, VLANs and prioritization...and all at a price that is competitive with unmanaged switches

Netgear says the FS526T is designed to deliver the superior performance of 100 Mbps and gigabit networking speeds and provides many of the basic management features typically found in more expensive, fully managed switches. Belkin first to deliver IEEE 802.11g-compliant wireless gear

Belkin Corporation announced today that it is the first networking equipment manufacturer to be fully compliant with the newly ratified IEEE 802.11g specification for its entire 54g wireless networking line. The Belkin 54g line is currently shipping globally. According to the company, customers can be assured that 54g products purchased from Belkin will offer all the advantages of the 802.11g specification. Additionally, all Belkin 54g products shipped prior to the ratification are immediately upgradeable to meet the fully ratified 802.11g specification via drivers that are available as free downloads from the Belkin website. 06/13/03

Compex launches new router

Compex has added the NetPassage 15D to its series of broadband Internet routers. The NetPassage 15D is a broadband Internet router, integrated with a 4-port 10/100 Mbps Fast Ethernet switch and a Wide Area Network (WAN) port, to support a cable/DSL modem for broadband Internet connection. Belkin announces powerline network products

Belkin Corporation has announced two new additions to its growing line of networking products-the Powerline USB Adapter and Powerline Ethernet Adapter. The Powerline USB Adapter (F5D4050 - ESP $79.99) and Powerline Ethernet Adapter (F5D4070 - ESP $79.99) will begin shipping in North America on June 1, 2003. The Belkin Powerline USB Adapter adds networking capability to any USB-equipped laptop or desktop by connecting from a laptop or desktop to a powerline network with a simple, Plug-and-Play connection. The Belkin Powerline Ethernet Adapter installs with a simple connection through the computer's Ethernet port to give you all the benefits of networking. In utilizing the 110-volt electrical wiring to connect all computers to create a network, both adapters eliminate the need to run cabling between computers. JustCom offers wide range of KVM products

JustComtech, a Taiwan-based maker of KVM products, has opened a US office and is offering a wide-range of products here. Products range from 2-port switch to a very cool 19” rack mount 8-port with 15” LCD. Cisco announces intent to buy Linksys

Cisco Systems has announced an agreement to acquire privately held Linksys, the leading provider of home networking products. The acquisition represents Cisco's entry into the high-growth consumer/SOHO networking market, which is expected to grow from $3.7 billion in 2002 to $7.5 billion in 2006 worldwide, according to the company. Belkin announces new KVM switches

Belkin has introduced its OmniView™ 2-Port keyboard/video/mouse (KVM) switch with built-in cabling and its OmniView 2-Port KVM switch bundle that includes two six-foot cables . Set to begin shipping in North America on March 3, 2003, both units are affordable solutions that save workspace while giving users control of two PS/2 computers from one console. Netgear ships first 802.11a/b/g dual band wireless networking PC Card

Netgear announced March 3 the launch of the Netgear dual band 802.11a/b/g wireless PC Card (WAG511), the industry’s first available 802.11a/b/g dual band wireless networking PC card. The WAG511 is designed to enhance productivity cost-effectively by providing universal compatibility with all of the currently deployed WLAN protocols, including the most common 802.11b standard. Compex launches payment gateway to SPI Firewall upgrade option

Compex has launched a simple SPI FIrewall payment gateway, allowing customers to purchase an activation key online at cpx.com. The advanced SPI Firewall upgrade option is available on all new Compex routers (NP15C, NP16A, NP16 Bundle, and SKW811) and existing models (NP15B, NP15BR, and NP16). Belkin launches 54g wireless networking products

Belkin Corporation has launched a complete line of wireless networking products that use the so-called 54g standard. The new products run at network speeds of  up to 54Mbps and operate on the same 2.4GHz frequency band as 802.11b Wi-Fi products, the common standard for wireless home networks. The 54g equipment is backward-compatible with current wireless 802.11b products already installed and will continue to be operational and interoperable with new wireless 54g products being added to a home or business network. The new gear includes a 54g wireless cable/DSL gateway router; a 54g wireless network access point; a 54g wireless notebook network card; and a 54g wireless desktop network card. Netgear ships all-in-one networking solution

Netgear is shipping a wireless ADSL modem gateway (DG824M) that the company calls "a true all-in-one networking solution" The gateway integrates an ADSL modem, 802.11b wireless router, four-port 10/100 switch, and an advanced firewall. Read the full announcement. 01/15/03

Belkin wins five international CES Innovations Awards

Belkin Components, a leading manufacturer of computer accessories and networking gear, has been awarded five “Innovations 2001 Design and Engineering Awards” from the Consumer Electronics Association at this year’s International CES in Las Vegas, Nevada. Dantz adds new Retrospect for Macintosh package

Dantz has announced a new Retrospect 5.0 for Macintosh desktop edition. The backup program now includes support for the latest version of the Mac OS (known as 10.2 or Jaguar) and comes with two client licenses. The licenses enable users to back up two additional networked computers (desktops or notebooks). Key features of the desktop edition include: custom selectors that can filter files based on multiple criteria, support for tape drives and autoloaders, and intelligent network backup.
