Max on GamesCall of Duty 2 by Max ("Feren6") Nachamkin Overview Call of Duty 2 is an extraordinary World War II first-person shooter. Created by Activision and Infinity Ward, CoD2 is a revolutionary next-step in WWII games. Bringing real war aspects to the game and leaving most of the blood out of it, Call of Duty 2 is rated T for Teen (13+). Game Plan As you play the role of a World War II solider, you are immersed in many different missions against the Axis. The AI is very good making the game a phenomenal experience, instead of just being bored to death by bad bots. The weather features such as snow and extreme heat are shown throughout the missions and are greatly accented through the graphics of Call of Duty 2. As for the graphics, I get about 70-75 FPS (frames per second) on medium settings on a nVidia Geforce 6600 GT 128 MB video card with 1 GB of RAM. This is very good and the game is extremely smooth. Tanks and other vehicles cross the path of a solider and make the experience even more war-like. As for the actual game play, the guns are shot as if you were the person looking through the crosshairs of a gun. If you’re using a sniper, you see through the scope of the sniper rifle. This ensures the maximum experience you can get from a World War II game. These features in Call of Duty 2 make you feel ‘brought to war’. Network play As for the Multi-player mode of Call of Duty 2, it offers many different playing styles. Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Search and Destory, and Headquarters are the different game types you can play at your house with your friends or across the Net against other people. To play on the internet, a broadband connection is required. To play on your own Local Area Network (LAN), you need a network interface card and latest drivers. If you need help setting up a LAN you can check out our information here. Multiple game CDs are required to play against each other. The Multi-player mode brings the game to life. Game types Deathmatch: Also known as ‘Free for all’. In this game type you respawns as many times as you can within the set amount of time and try to get as many kills as you can by any means necessary. Team Deathmatch: Same as Deathmatch, but with two different teams. Search and Destroy: A team-based game type where you only get one life. The objective is to eliminate the other team. The bomb can be planted at the bombsites by the Axis team, and the Allies would have to defuse it. Much like the game type from Counter-Strike – Demolition. Headquarters: The objective here is to control as many territories as you possibly can throughout the time limit. Capture the Flag: Two teams run in attempt to get the other team’s flag and return it to their own. Respawns are unlimited. Summary Call of Duty 2 is an excellent World War II first-person shooter which takes you into a world of its own. If you love World War II and if you love first-person shooters, this game is right for you. The graphics are great, the sound effects are great, and the game play is amazing! Only downside is that there are a lot of CDs to install from and it requires a 3D video card. If you have time to spare to install and you have a 3D video card, there is no regrets getting this game.
