On our discussion forums, all of us can share information that we're sure you will find invaluable. Use these forums to ask questions, leave comments, make recommendations, give warnings and carry on on-line conversations about any home PC networking topic.

To make it easier, we have split our forums into four sections. Please leave your question in the appropriate forum and don't leave the same question in multiple forums:

General - this is where you leave basic questions that don't fall into any of the following specific categories. This might include questions or comments about the site, recommendations on purchases and equipment, and other general issues.

LAN/Local Connection - for questions about your home network, connecting two or more computers together in your house or single site and other "local area" questions.

Internet Connection/Sharing - for questions about connecting your local network to the Internet and particularly for questions about sharing that Internet connection between users on your network.

LAN/Network Games - for questions about playing games over your local network.

In order to use the forums, you must register with us. This makes it easier for you to use the forums as you only need to enter your ID once per session. It does require you to leave us your e-mail address, but we have a strict privacy policy to not release your e-mail address to anyone else. (Read our
privacy policy for more information.) When you register, it also is your option whether to allow us to send you periodic e-mails to let you know about big "goings on" at homePCnetwork. If you don't want e-mails from us on those updates, simply don't select that check box.

The big advantage to registering and leaving your e-mail address is that our system will automatically send any answer that someone else leaves directly to your e-mail box. That's far better than having to come back and search for the answers to your questions.  We never display your email address to other users; it is only used internally by the system to allow you to edit your own posts and (optionally) receive notifications when users have responded.

One final, technical note on registering for our forums. Because we need a way to track who you are as you visit the forums, you do need to allow cookies on your web browser. If you have a problem registering, check your browser tools or preferences settings to make sure cookies are enabled.

Remember, to make forums work users must both ask questions and answer them. So please take a look through the questions and see if you can answer one for somebody who has question you have already solved.
